We have over 130 programme and subject- specific talks taking place in 6 locations across campus in UCD Newman, the O’Brien Centre for Science, the Health Sciences Centre, the Global Lounge, Sutherland School of Law and Lochlann Quinn School of Business. We invite you to find out as much as you can about the subjects that may interest you and learn as much as you can about the world of UCD: the societies and sports, the facilities and campus. In our undergraduate courses, a quarter of all places are reserved for these students. 35 %Planning Your Day In order to get the most from your day, we recommend that you take time to plan your visit. There is a lot to see and do during the day. If you want to make a note of the talks you want to attend, there is a planner on the back of this programme. Central Exhibition Information Stands will give you the opportunity to ask questions on a one-to-one basis. See pages 6 & 10. Campus Tours Tours of the campus and facilities will run at regular intervals throughout the day. See page 6. Talks All the talks are listed in this programme. We recommend that you prioritise the talks that you want to attend first and then fit the campus tours around them. See pages 12 - 15. Meet our UCD Student Ambassadors UCD Student Ambassadors are dotted all around campus and will help with anything you need - from directions to questions about why they decided to study in UCD! They are all current students at UCD, so feel free to ask them questions, they’ll be happy to help. 4 Commuting to UCD 5 DART & Rail A shuttle bus from Belfield to the DART station at Sydney Parade operates during peak morning and evening hours throughout term. The S6 bus departs Blackrock Dart Station every 15 minutes and serves the UCD campus, stopping at the UCD Village and main bus terminus. Heuston Station is linked by bus. Connolly Station is served by many routes that pass through the city centre. Luas The S6 bus departs campus every 15 minutes and connects to the Green Luas Line at Dundrum and the Red Luas Line at Tallaght. Driving by Car UCD operates permit parking for students and staff. Permits cost €100. Hourly paid parking is also available. Remember parking spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Over 20 Bus Routes Over 20 bus routes serve the Belfield campus, linking UCD to the city centre and suburban areas, 24 hours a day, 7 days week. A number of express buses also serve UCD, offering fast direct routes from suburban areas and the greater Dublin region. Cycling or Walking UCD is a pedestrian and cycle friendly campus and has five dedicated pedestrian and cyclist entrances. Outside the campus, many cycling and walking projects have been completed making it easy to walk and cycle to campus. UCD has over 5,000 bike parking spaces and Bleeper and Moby bikes available for hire. It is open from 10am to 4pm in the O’Reilly Hall. Inside you’ll find stands covering our broad range of subjects. You will have the opportunity to chat with academics, staff and current students and find out detailed information on your course. There’s also the opportunity to find out more about student life and get questions answered by representatives from the university’s accommodation office, the careers network, the admissions team and lots of other supports units. Central Exhibition Hall UCD Accommodation Tours Join one of our designated tours, which will let students and parents explore one of the UCD Student Residences on campus. Tours will run hourly from 11am - 3pm. Sign up at the Campus Tour Registration tent, beside the main entrance to O’Reilly Hall. To book your place, go to the reception desk in O’Reilly Hall, where the central exhibition is taking place. 6 UCD O’Brien Centre for Science Building Tour Take a tour of the O’Brien Centre for Science with current UCD Science students and explore the world class facilities available to UCD Science students. This tour will include an Active Learning Environment, UCD Evolution Garden, Classroom and an undergraduate biology teaching lab. Tours run on demand from 10am until 2:30pm and last approximately 20 minutes. Tours begin on the ground floor of the UCD O’Brien Centre for Science at the Evolution Garden (opposite Pi Restaurant) Campus Tours Take a guided tour of the UCD campus with our Student Ambassadors and explore the main buildings and facilities in UCD. Tours will leave regularly from O’Reilly Hall. To book your place, go to the reception desk in O’Reilly Hall, where the central exhibition is taking place.7 Parents, Teachers & Guidance Counsellors Information Area In the conservatory in O’Reilly Hall, our Schools Liaison Team will be available to answer questions. Here you will be able to purchase refreshments in a relaxed setting. Please feel free to drop by for some peace and quiet and to soak up the university atmosphere. Don’t miss these talks.
